Abstract : Automation is a technology concerned with the application of mechanical, electronic, and computer based systems to operate and control production. This technology includes automatic machine tools to process parts, automatic assembly machines, industrial robots, automatic material handling and storage systems, automatic inspection systems for quality control, feedback control and computer process control, computer systems for planning, data collection and decision-making to support manufacturing activities. This article focused on the overview of library automation and the changing scenario of library management. The impact of information and communication technology has changed the library operation and its functionality in to at to faster mode. Clients need not to visit shelf to shelf to find out a find out a document. They just get their documents sitting in front of a desktop automation has reduced the man power. This article will discuss about the concept the concept of automation its requirement and various components helps to automate library. Some software package has given which are available for automation purposes. To perform this objective of paper secondary data has been used from various sources of books journals and online data base to achieve the objectives of the paper.
