Abstract : This chapter explores the historical evolution and progression of labor laws pertaining to working women, tracing their origin and development through various legal frameworks. The aim is to conduct a thorough examination of the obstacles encountered by employed women within the workforce and suggest practical remedies to foster a fairer and more accommodating workplace setting. The analysis delves into the existing labor laws and their impact on working women, considering factors such as wage gaps, discriminatory practices, maternity rights, and workplace harassment. It also explores how gender intersects with other factors such as race, ethnicity, and economic background, acknowledging the diverse obstacles encountered by women in various situations. Challenges identified in the paper include persistent gender-based discrimination, limited access to equal opportunities, and inadequate legal protections for maternity and caregiving responsibilities. Moreover, the article emphasizes the necessity for cultural and structural changes aimed at cultivating a work environment that is more inclusive and supportive of women. In proposing solutions, the paper advocates for the strengthening of existing labor laws, introduction of affirmative action measures, and the promotion of gender-sensitive workplace policies. It underscores the significance of enhancing consciousness, advocating for diversity and inclusivity, and nurturing an environment that recognizes and appreciates the involvement of female employees. The conclusions of this examination add to the continual discussion on workplace gender parity and offer essential insights for policymakers, employers, and activists striving to establish a fairer and more balanced employment environment for women. By understanding the historical context, current challenges, and potential solutions, stakeholders can collaboratively work towards a future where working women enjoy equal opportunities, fair treatment, and a supportive work environment.
