Abstract : The right to freedom of speech and expression is one of the most widely accepted fundamental rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The Supreme Court of India has ruled in a number of cases that this fundamental right is guaranteed, regardless of the medium by which it is exercised.India is one of those rare places on the planet where you can speak your mind without fear of being fired, or at least it was until recently. Even though Indians' situation is much stronger than that of their contemporaries in other nations, the image no longer soothes or enchants them. This question is answered in relation to the implementation of the right to freedom of speech and expression in the social media context, as well as the hindrances faced by the nation's so-called cyber laws, particularly Section 66A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
