Abstract : It is one of the oldest ways of promoting a company's products or services. Because of the significant contributions that personal selling has made toward making the promotion function more effective, it has been given the reputation of being the most reliable type of promotion. Even though it is the most expensive type of promotion, an increasing number of businesses are using it, and a fair proportion of those businesses recognise that they cannot possibly survive without it. Personal selling is becoming more or less essential as a result of rising levels of both buyer and seller sophistication, which is driving increased levels of market rivalry.
