Abstract : Renal drug excretion is the process through which your kidneys eliminate medicines and their metabolities. Glomerular filtration, tubular secretion, and passive reabsorption are the three mechanisms involved.
Drugs and their metabolites can also be eliminated by routes other than the renal system, which are referred to as extrarenal or nonrenal routes.
Excretion of drugs through renal and non-renal routes depends on various factors which are discussed in following section.
