Abstract : Mg (OH)2 is a fine, white, amorphous powder that may also contain MgO and MgSO4. It is nearly insoluble in water but soluble in dilute acids. Its water solution is alkaline. In this instance, back titration is performed because the chemical being measured (Mg (OH)2) is insoluble in water and requires an excess of the standard solution to solubilize.
Keywords : Mg (OH)2, MILK OF MAGNESIA.
